Horse Betting Systems

Every gambler is looking for a sure thing or a system that works every time. This concept is unrealistic, but using these methods below will greatly increase your chances of making a considerable profit.

Just short in the last race

If a horse jumps off to a nice start and keeps the speed throughout a good part of the race, but loses it at the end then the bettor will assume that the horse may be tired. Check the number of races the horse had previously competed in and if it appears that the horse was tired then bet that horse in an upcoming race after the horse has had time to rest.

Pure Speed

If a horse is displaying just pure speed and pulling far away from the pack then it is pretty easy to assume that this horse will exhibit this characteristic for the next few races to come. With this method try to get a chart history on the horse and bet within the next few races while the horse is not going through any changes.

Odds

Odds are a huge part of betting and checking them constantly is a must. If the bettor observes a horses odds lowering multiple times throughout the day then this horse was doing very well in training rounds. Veteran bettors will catch wind of this and bet large amounts on the horse which will significantly lower the odds.

Going for Long shots

Try and find a horse that showed great speed early in the race, but just seemed to run out of gas towards the end. In some cases, the horse may just not have the stamina, but in others the horse may just be tired from previous races. Like in other cases just do some research and figure out which situation the horse is exhibiting.

Surface

The surface may be turf or dirt. If a horse had good odds, but slid on the dirt then the bettor is able to assume that the horse will perform much better on turf. If word gets out that a horse is having sore legs then this will greaten by running on the dirt.

Trainer/ Jockey

Know what trainers and jockeys are the elite ones and if they switch to a new horse then assume that the horse will also improve. Take notice of the jockey's weight and how he has done in previous events. Most Jockey's can also choose what horse they would like to work with and those with more wins will pick a better horse.

Track

Take notice of where the horses have competed before and if they are new to the track then chances are they will not perform well. Pick a horse who is a veteran to the track especially if the horse is in a race with many first timers to the track. With the track type comes the distance and knowing what a horse usually runs is huge. If the horse is running a much greater distance than it had previously run then that horses chances are not good.

Many Bets

Betting many different horses will increase your chance of winning, but it will also cost more. The key is to set a specific amount that one hopes to win then bet an amount of about 3/4 of what one hopes to win. In doing this, you give yourself room for mistake, but at the same time allowing for a large payday. Looking at the odds and doing calculations becomes very important. Knowing how much each bet will pay out is the key to this style of betting.
